About This Journal

Journal of Arts & Social Sciences (JASS) is a refereed, scholarly journal published by the College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman. The journal publishes three issues a year and welcomes research of current interest for international scholars in both English and Arabic in the arts, humanities and social sciences. All articles are subjected to a double blind peer-review process. Submissions are reviewed September-May.

This journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Journal History

JASS released its first issue in 2007, followed by annual publications from 2010 to 2012. In 2014, the journal expanded to two issues per year. Since early 2015, JASS has been published three times annually, with issues covering the periods of January–April, May–August, and September–December.

Language

The Journal of Arts and Social Sciences (JASS) accepts and publishes manuscripts in both Arabic and English. Authors are encouraged to submit their work in the language most appropriate for their subject matter and target audience. Regardless of the language chosen, manuscripts must meet high standards of academic writing, clarity, and linguistic accuracy.

Digital Archiving and Preservation

To ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of published content, JASS participates in two internationally recognized digital archiving initiatives:

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)
  • Portico

These archives safeguard the journal’s content against loss, corruption, or technological obsolescence, providing permanent and resilient access to the scholarly record.

In addition:

  • All published articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through CrossRef, ensuring each article can be reliably located, cited, and linked across platforms.
