Aims & Scope
The Journal of Arts and Social Sciences (JASS) is an open-access, refereed journal that promotes scholarly research on the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Special focus is given to articles that support interdisciplinary studies or contribute to area studies of the Arab world and beyond. The journal publishes original research, including theoretical and applied contributions.
JASS is dedicated to publishing scholarship that responds to contemporary social, cultural, historical, and economic realities through empirical and critical studies. It welcomes scholarship that deepens our understanding of human societies, their changes over time, and the respective intellectual traditions that emerged in relation to such societies and their transformations.
Core Disciplines
JASS is an interdisciplinary, selective journal in the arts and social sciences, covering research on (but not limited to):
- Sociology and Social Work – Studies on social structures, community development, social policies, and welfare interventions.
- Historical Analysis and Cultural Studies – Research on historiography, heritage preservation, and socio-cultural changes.
- Linguistics and Literature – Studies in Arabic and English linguistics, translation, discourse analysis, and literary criticism.
- Political Science and International Relations – Research on governance, diplomacy, public policy, and political philosophy.
- Economic and Development Studies – Analyses of economic policies, sustainable development, and financial systems.
- Psychological and Behavioral Studies – Research on cognition, mental well-being, and social psychology.

The journal remains committed to publishing high-quality empirical and theoretical articles that contribute to academic debates within these disciplines. JASS also welcomes review articles addressing emerging trends and challenges relevant to the scope of the journal. All articles must be original and unpublished and should contribute to the body of knowledge in a field.
The Journal of Arts and Social Sciences (JASS) publishes a wide range of scholarly works, including research articles, review articles, theoretical papers, case studies, and book reviews. The journal welcomes contributions that provide original insights, critical analyses, and interdisciplinary perspectives in the fields of arts and social sciences.
Types of Articles
The journal accepts the following categories of scholarly contributions:
- Original Articles
In-depth research studies presenting original findings in arts and social sciences. - Review Articles
Comprehensive overviews of specific topics. These should generally be under 10,000 words, contain up-to-date references, and include an unstructured abstract. Meta-analyses are considered review articles. Priority will be given to submissions with high educational and theoretical value. - Book Reviews
Critical analyses of recent and significant publications. Reviews should be analytical and structured, highlighting the book’s contributions, strengths, and limitations. The word count should not exceed 5,000 words.
