Abstract
This piece of research is about how much -Kam, “the phrase” in Arabic syntax, where similarities and differences between inquiry and declarative (how much) will be studied to merge differences into the similarities. The problem lies in the many similarities between the two types, and the scholars’ controversy in the differences that distinguish between them. However, more important is the Arabic use of each one in the other’s place. Hence, the confusion between inquiry (how much) to the declarative one. Based on description and analysis, the study concluded that the phrase (how much) is one for Arabs and has real meaning of inquiry which goes being its original meaning to figurative meanings.
