Abstract
The study aimed to build a training program based on ethnographic qualitative research methods (interview as a model) according to the theory of cognitive balances and measure its impact on the development of ethnographic qualitative research methods among social studies teachers in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the study objective, the mixed approach with a multi-stage design was employed. In the first stage, the training programs provided to social studies teachers in the second cycle in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate were analyzed during the period from (2015-2021) to identify the level of inclusion of training programs on ethnographic qualitative research methods. An interview was also conducted with a sample of (7) teachers to identify their desire for programs based on ethnographic research methods. Based on the results of the first stage, a proposed training program was built to develop ethnographic qualitative research methods for social studies teachers. The program was applied to a sample of (30) teachers and its effectiveness in developing the knowledge of social studies teachers in qualitative ethnographic research methods was measured. The statistical results showed that there were statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.005α) in favor of the post-application. Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations and proposals were presented, including the inclusion of ethnographic research programs for social studies teachers
