Abstract
This paper investigates the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing the education sector under the Oman 2040 vision. The vision aspires to economic sustainability, and education is a cornerstone for achieving this vision. The paper evaluates the present landscape of AI in Oman's educational system, exploring the current initiatives and how AI can be extended in education and be part of its practices. Based on the nature of the study, the methodology employed involves a comprehensive review of available literature and internet resources related to AI applications in education globally and within Oman. This secondary research approach allows for a thorough analysis of published data, case studies, and expert opinions, facilitating a deep understanding of AI's state in education and its potential for aligning with Oman Vision 2040. The main focus will be on how AI can innovate teaching methodologies, personalize learning, and shape the future economy. Our findings show that while considering the integration of AI in education, many challenges need to be tackled, such as resource allocation, technology literacy, and ethical challenges. Therefore, this paper offers a novel policy that fits Oman's educational system and is aligned with Vision 2040 objectives. This policy includes investing in AI infrastructure, digital literacy, and public and private sector partnerships. The paper concludes that involving AI in the educational sector enhances educational outcomes and contributes to human capital development, as well as satisfies the 2040 vision of putting Oman's position as one of the regional leaders in AI-powered education.
